Murrumbidgee-Ginninderra Gorges National Park (Information Note 5)

The committee of the Ginninderra Falls Association was delighted to hear that its attempt to arrange a meeting with the Chief Minister, Katy Gallagher, to press the association’s case for a new national park centered on Ginninderra Falls has been successful. Three committee members, Anna Hyles, Chris Watson and Graeme Barrow, have been appointed to meet with Ms Gallagher on 29 May 2012. Members will be informed of the outcome as quickly as possible.

GFA has accepted an invitation to give evidence on 24 May to the ACT Legislative Assembly’s Standing Committee on Climate Change, Environment and Water about the falls and their importance. This Committee is inquiring into current and potential ecotourism of the ACT and the region and the Association took the opportunity of forwarding a submission for the committee’s consideration.

We now have 41 paid up members, which is a pleasing result.

The committee is conscious of the need to keep everybody up-to-date with what it is doing and is looking at holding another public meeting on 5 June 2012. Confirmation of the date, venue and time will be provided to members once they are known.
