Murrumbidgee - Ginninderra Gorges National Park: Information Note 11

The GFA committee is organising an information session for landowners in the vicinity of Ginninderra Falls to bring them up-to-date with our activities in the past year and what we have in mind. The function will be held on Thursday, 29 November 2012, at the Southern Cross Club premises in Jamieson. A NSW National Parks &Wildlife Service manager, Gary Saunders, of Queanbeyan, has accepted the committee's invitation to attend the meeting and will be asked to speak and/or answer questions. His responsibilities at the NP&WS include planning and assessment.

The committee has also written to the NSW environment minister Robyn Parker inviting her to visit the falls and receive a briefing from the GFA. It will be recalled that Ms Parker was scheduled to visit some weeks ago, but unfortunately had to cancel that arrangement.

We are also arranging a meeting with the Environmental Defender's Office in Canberra to give us some background to the legal implications and options available to convert the current private land into public ownership to create the Murrumbidgee - Ginninderra Gorges National Park.

The National Trust (ACT) is keen for its members to visit the falls next year and has begun discussions with Anna Hyles.
