Present. Chris Watson , John Connelly, Graeme Barrow ,Robyn Coglan.
1) Chris. Tables material related to Ginninderra Falls (project report , Thistleton article etc). Mick spends some time reading them.
2) Robyn. Mentions that Tony Powell is concerned that “principles and parameters” used to define the corridor be extended to the NSW section. The 85M for water quality control specifically mentions West Belconnen.
3) Mick. Interested in water quality mentions ACT Govt initiatives in Tuggeranong.
4) Mick. “My committee” not sure what committee this is?? “My committee involved in Territory Plan changes , I would like to get a feel from you about the setback in NSW”
5) Mick. Socks it to us. “What do you propose the distance should be.” We are a bit taken aback we cannot give a coherent answer.
6) Mick. Mentions section 99 of the Australian Constitution as providing for river corridors all across Australia. I cannot see it, section 99 “Commonwealth not to give preference” says “The Commonwealth shall not, by any law or regulation of trade, commerce, or revenue, give preference to one State or any part thereof over another State or any part thereof.” Section 100 “Nor abridge right to use water says “The Commonwealth shall not, by any law or regulation of trade or commerce, abridge the right of a State or of the residents therein to the reasonable use of the waters of rivers for conservation or irrigation.”
7) Mick. He has been briefed on the Riverview financial arrangements.
8) Mick. Report of the Ecotourism committee has been “published” as it was not unanimously accepted so cannot make “official” recommendations. However the published final report is on the web.
9) Mick. Final recommendations.
1) Follow up on the recommendations of the Eco-tourism committee
2) Continue to talk to Simon Corbell’s department.
