Public Meeting: Murrumbidgee and Ginninderra Gorges deserve a National Park

From
Where
Flynn Community Hub Hall: 21 Bingle Street, Flynn

The confluence of Ginninderra Creek and the Murrumbidgee River is an area of great importance to the Canberra Region as well as having national significance:

  • Beautiful Ginninderra Upper and Lower Falls
  • An area of extensive aboriginal culture and heritage
  • An area of outstanding biodiversity, stunning rock formations and natual beauty
  • Deserves to be protected permanently as a National Park

Although they are across the border in NSW the Murrumbidgee and Ginninderra Gorges and the iconic Ginninderra Falls come within the future development ambitions of the organisation currently creating the new suburbs west of Canberra, who plan to develop further along the Murrumbidgee River. Both the Ginninderra Gorge and the Murrumbidgee Gorge, as well as being areas of great natural beauty, are areas of critical Aboriginal heritage.

We need the ACT Government to work with the NSW and Federal Governments to resolve the cross-border issues and work together on the preservation of this precious place and its important place in the Murray-Darling Basin.

Instead of being overwhelmed with urban development, this area should be protected so it can be enjoyed by future generations.

Please come and show your support for the Murrumbidgee and Ginninderra Gorges and the iconic Ginninderra Falls so we can all enjoy these hidden gems.

Organised by the Voices of West Belconnen and the Ginninderra Falls Association.
Parking at the hall is off Hedland Circuit.
